1. Start with the use case
Before comparing materials or print methods, define how the bag will be used. Retail carry, event giveaways, and corporate gifting each need different sizes, handle types, and durability — and that choice shapes everything that follows.
A bag for in-store purchases needs to hold weight comfortably and reflect brand quality at the till. Event bags can prioritise visibility and low unit cost. Corporate gifts often lean toward premium finishes and a tighter size range. Write down the primary use case first; it keeps the brief focused when options multiply.
2. Choose your material
GoJute supplies three core natural materials, each with distinct properties:
- Natural jute – warm, textured, and instantly recognisable. The most common choice for retail and hospitality brands.
- Organic cotton – softer handle with a smoother surface that takes fine-detail print exceptionally well.
- Canvas – structured and hardwearing, ideal for longer-lifecycle branded bags and heavier loads.
3. Specify size and format
Bag format affects both function and brand perception. A mini pouch and a large market shopper can both carry your brand – but they signal very different things about your product and your customer.
Consider handle length (short carry vs long shoulder), base width (gusseted for capacity vs flat for a cleaner silhouette), and whether a reinforced base insert is needed for heavier loads.
4. Select your print method
Your print method should follow your artwork, not the other way around. Screen printing suits bold, flat-colour logos at scale. Heat transfer handles full-colour and photographic artwork. Embroidery is the premium choice for fashion and luxury brands where a raised, textured finish matters.
